1991-92 Results

The Canucks finally had their break-through season in 1991-92. On the back of goaltender Kirk McLean, the Canucks found themselves in first place overall after the most successful October in team history. Rookie sensation Pavel Bure joined the team in November, adding a game breaker dimension to the team. Sole captain Trevor Linden led the team in scoring for the second straight season. The Canucks spent the entire season in first place in the Smythe Division. After 77 games, the impressive season was almost wiped out when players went on strike for ten days.

The Canucks met the Winnipeg Jets in the first round of the playoffs. After falling behind three games to one, the Canucks finally pounded the Jets into submission in seven games. The series featured back-to-back eight-goal outbursts by the Canucks offense and was capped with an impressive 5-0 victory in the final game. It marked the first time the Canucks played a seventh game at home. In the second round, the Canucks again fell behind three games to one to Edmonton, before finally bowing out in six games.
