Vancouver Canucks vs. Arizona Coyotes

The Phoenix Coyotes joined the NHL for the 1996-97 season after the team was unable to survive as the Winnipeg Jets. During their first several seasons in Phoenix, the Canucks and Coyotes battled each other to a virtual standoff. In more recent years, the Canucks have often prevailed. Vancouver and Phoenix have never met in the playoffs. Prior to the 2014-15 season, the team changed its name from the Phoenix Coyotes to the Arizona Coyotes.

Historical Notes: Esa Tikkanen was the first Canuck to score against the Coyotes ... In his best game as a Canuck, Martin Gelinas scored four goals against Phoenix (February 27, 1997).
