Vancouver Canucks vs. Colorado Avalanche

The Quebec Nordiques moved to Denver after the 1994-95 season. For many years the Colorado Avalanche dominated the Vancouver Canucks. More recently, the tables have turned and Canuck wins have been more common. With Canuck wins so rare, it is not surprising that when the two teams met in the playoffs, the Avalanche prevailed both times.

Historical Notes: Roman Oksiuta was the first Canuck to score against the Avalanche ... Alexander Mogilny set a team record by recording 8 assists in one playoff series (1996 vs. Colorado) ... Dan Cloutier recorded his first of seven shutouts in the 2001-02 season against the Avalanche (October 13, 2001) ... Todd Bertuzzi sucker punched Avalanche player Steve Moore, knocking him out of the NHL for over a year and resulting in Bertuzzi's season ending suspension (March 8, 2004) ... When the Avalanche scored at 1:28 of the third period (November 12, 2008), it ended Roberto Luongo's shutout sequence at 242 minutes and 36 seconds ... Henrik Sedin recorded his first hat trick against the Avalanche (November 14, 2009).
