Vancouver Canucks vs. Atlanta Flames

The Atlanta Flames joined the NHL for the 1972-73 season. Right from the beginning, the Canucks had trouble defeating the Flames. By the time the Flames relocated to Calgary after the 1979-80 season, the Canucks had managed 14 wins in 38 tries. The Canucks never met the Atlanta Flames in the playoffs.

Gary Smith recorded his first shutout as a Vancouver Canuck against Atlanta (October 23, 1973) ... Gerry O'Flaherty set a team record by scoring two goals in nine seconds (March 15, 1974) ... It was against Atlanta that the Canucks first allowed 12 goals in a single game (March 21, 1975) ... In a major trade, the Canucks sent Don Lever and Brad Smith to the Flames for Ivan Boldirev and Darcy Rota ... Stan Smyl recorded his first hat trick in a 9-3 loss to Atlanta (March 7, 1980) ... Tiger Williams was the last Canuck to score against the Flames.
