Starred:
Of all the Canuck players, Ron Stewart was born first (July 11, 1932). This record is unlikely to be broken.

Gone but Not Forgotten

It is the fate that awaits us all. Death can come after a long fulfilling life, be a tragic end for someone too young or be something in between. The Canuck family has faced these situations and will undoubtedly lose more members in the coming years.

Below is a list of the 26 Canuck players that have died, as well as a couple of "records" based on this somewhat morbid subject. Charlie Hodge is the latest addition to this list, having died in April 2016 at the age of 82.

Youngest Canucks at time of death:
21 - Luc Bourdon (2008)
27 - Rick Rypien (2011)
29 - Wayne Maki (1974)
29 - Stephane Morin (1998)
32 - Bob Cook (1978)

Oldest living Canucks (age as of July 2, 2016):
82 - Marc Reaume (born February 7, 1934)
79 - Orland Kurtenbach (born September 7, 1936)
77 - Cesare Maniago (born January 13, 1939)
77 - Leon Rochefort (born May 4, 1939)
76 - Wayne Connelly (born December 16, 1939)

Notes
The NHL "Official Guide and Record Book" includes a notation for retired players that are deceased. The above list has been compared to 2016 edition (published at the start of 2015-16). Players that have died since then may not be on my list.

The Era(s) shows a small graphic based on their time as a Canuck player. There is a complete description of these icons on the All-time Canuck Roster page. WHL Canucks are not noted here.

My medical skills are limited to bandages and ice packs. The causes of death listed above are based on my understanding of some of the terms I have found through my research.
