When Bill LaForge was introduced as the new head coach of the Vancouver Canucks, he proclaimed that the Canucks would win 50 games because, after all, 30 games is a lot to lose. After the Canucks posted a record of 4-14-2, LaForge was fired. Harry Neale took over in the midst of the team's second nine game losing streak of the season and by early December, the season was a write-off. For the first time since Harry Neale joined the organization, the team missed the playoffs.
