Vancouver Canucks vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs were one of the "original six" teams when the Canucks joined the NHL in 1970-71. Of the "original six" teams, the Canucks have fared best against the Leafs, posting slightly more wins than losses. The Canucks and Leafs have met in the playoffs once.

Historical Notes: The Canucks' first NHL win came at the expense of the Leafs ... Orland Kurtenbach was the first Canuck to score against the Leafs ... Dunc Wilson recorded the first shutout in Canuck history during a scoreless tie in Toronto (October 27, 1971) ... The Canucks once overcame a 4-0 deficit to defeat Toronto 6-4 (January 16, 1973) ... John Gould scored all three goals in a 3-2 victory over Toronto (November 11, 1975) ... Chris Oddleifson set a Canuck record by scoring two short-handed goals against Toronto (January 24, 1976) ... Thomas Gradin recorded his first hat trick in Toronto against Jim Rutherford (March 4, 1981) ... Kirk McLean became the first Canuck goalie to record two playoff shutouts in the same series during the 1994 playoffs against Toronto ... Henrik Sedin scored his first NHL goal against the Leafs (October 16, 2000) ... The Canucks and Leafs did not meet in 2007-08 ... In his first game back to Toronto as a member of the Canucks, long time Leaf Mats Sundin scored the game deciding goal in the shootout (February 21, 2009).
