Vancouver Canucks vs. St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues entered the NHL for the 1967-68 season. The teams were both members of the Smythe Division from 1974-75 to 1980-81. The Blues have had an edge in wins between the two teams, including a streak of 14 games where the Canucks did not beat the blues in the late 1990s. More recently, the teams have been evenly matched. The two teams have met in the playoffs three times.

Historical Notes: The Canucks obtained Andre Boudrias from St. Louis for cash and a couple of late round draft choices (June 10, 1970) ... Orland Kurtenbach was the first Canuck to score against the Blues ... Greg Adams scored four goals in his first game as a Canuck against St. Louis (October 8, 1987) ... In one of their best deals ever, the Canucks sent Dan Quinn and Garth Butcher to St. Louis for Geoff Courtnall, Robert Dirk, Sergio Momesso, Cliff Ronning and a draft pick. The four players became known as "The Blues Brothers" (March 5, 1991) ... Christian Ruuttu and Geoff Courtnall set an NHL record by scoring two short-handed goals just 17 seconds apart in a playoff game (May 15, 1995) ... Alexander Mogliny became the second Canuck to score 50 goals in a season (February 29, 1996) ... The Canucks set a team record for largest margin of victory on the road by defeating the Blues 8-0 (December 15, 1996) ... During 2005-06, the Canucks earned no points in four games against the Blues, despite the fact that the Blues finished last in the NHL that season ... The Canucks sweep of the blues in the 2009 playoffs marked the first time Vancouver had ever swept a best-of-seven playoff series.
