Vancouver Canucks vs. Montreal Canadiens The Montreal Canadiens were one of the "original six" teams when the Canucks joined the NHL in 1970-71. It took the Canucks five seasons before they could post a win against the Habs. The Canadiens were the first team the Canucks ever met in the playoffs (and that's when the first win took place). The Canucks have fared better since the days of the Flying Frenchmen, but wins over the Montreal Canadiens are still a special treat. Historical Notes: Mike Corrigan was the first Canuck to score against the Canadiens ... Darcy Rota recorded his first hat trick as a Canuck against Denis Herron (March 18, 1982) ... Kirk McLean received a standing ovation from the Montreal fans after his stellar performance in a 3-0 victory (December 4, 1991) ... The Canucks and Canadiens did not meet in 2007-08. |
