Vancouver Canucks vs. California Golden Seals

The California Golden Seals entered the NHL as the Oakland Seals for the 1967-68 season. Despite the three year head start, the Seals were not better than the expansion Canucks. When the Canucks needed a win, they looked for a game against California on the schedule. After the 1975-76 season, the franchise relocated to Cleveland. The Canucks and Seals never met in the playoffs.

Historical Notes: Orland Kurtenbach became the first Canuck to record a hat trick on December 12, 1970 against Gary Smith and the California Golden Seals ... The Canucks hit double-digits for the first time against the Seals (winning 11-5 on March 28, 1971) ... The Seals were the first team to hit double-digits against the Canucks (winning 11-3 on January 3, 1973) ... The Canucks once overcame a 5-1 deficit to win 9-6 (October 15, 1971).
