Vancouver Canucks vs. Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres joined the NHL the same season as the Vancouver Canucks. Both franchises have had their ups and downs and for the past thirty years, they have matched up rather evenly. The two teams have met in the playoffs twice.

Historical Notes: Len Lunde was the first Canuck to score against the Sabres ... Dunc Wilson stopped Paul Andrea on the first penalty shot awarded during a Canuck game (November 5, 1970) ... Rosaire Paiement became the first Canuck to score four goals in a game (February 9, 1971) against Roger Crozier ... Bobby Schmautz scored three goals in a period against Dave Dryden (November 19, 1972) ... Andre Boudrias was the first Canuck to take -- and score -- on a penalty shot (March 9, 1973) ... Pavel Bure became the first Canuck to score 50 goals in a season during a neutral site game against Buffalo (March 1, 1993) ... The Canucks and Sabres did not meet in 2007-08.
