1975-76 Results After their best season ever, the question became what to do for an encore. After their first place finish the season before, the Canucks came out to retain their title. The team flirted with the .500 mark all season long, before a late season surge gave them 81 points on the season. The small drop in points was enough to leave the Canucks in second place in the Smythe Division. Dennis Ververgaert led the team in goals (37) and points (71) while Gary Smith spent the most time in net, posting a record of 20-24-6 in 51 games. In a first round playoff battle with the improving New York Islanders, the Canucks were knocked out in two straight games. Of the four goals the team managed, Chris Oddleifson was in on three of them. |
