Why my Web Pages are moving
(or how I took on the Big Telecom and won ... sort of)

Way back in 2006, my original ISP went out of business and I had to scramble and rebuild my web sites with a new provider. I went with my local phone company: Telus. Although my web pages don't get updated very often anymore, the service was fine and the cost was built into my Internet access.

At the beginning of August 2020 -- on the Friday before a long weekend -- all of my web pages disappeared and were replaced with a notice:

Had this notification been posted earlier, I could have dealt with this while I was off work for four months. Instead, I had to deal with this issue while also working over 50 hours a week. I spent hours on hold waiting for technical support staff that couldn't answer my questions. Several emails went back and forth, but nothing was resolved. I finally gave in, purchased a new domain and rebuilt my sites.

Amazingly, my "old" site magically reappeared, this time on the Friday before the September long weekend. At least now I can post my own notice informing people of the move and impending shutdown. Maybe, just maybe, my voice was heard and that's why you're here.
